Windows
286
and Windows
386
Very rare first
versions of Windows before it became what we
know it as today!
Windows 286 and 386 are essentially the same Operating System but were
optimised for different hardware...
Windows 3.x
Check out Guru Guy's
range of Vintage Retail-Boxed Windows
3.1, 3.11 and Windows for Workgroups software! Windows 3.0 was a major
step-change compared to Windows 286/386 (aka Windows 2.0) but it wasn't
until Windows 3.1 (which brought thousands of improvements on 3.0) that
the OS was clear it would become the dominant consumer Operating System.
Windows 9x
Check out Guru Guy's
range of Vintage Retail-Boxed Windows 95, 98, 98 Second Edition (98 SE)
and more!
Windows 95 was the most successful and popular consumer operating
system, selling millions in its first year alone.
Windows 98 built on the success of Windows 95 including USB support,
the FAT32 filesystem - a more efficient way to store and utilise large
hard drives, and internet explorer integration which led to the most
famous US Anti-Trust case in history!
Windows NT 3.x
Windows NT 3.1 (the
first version of NT - to match version
number of windows 3.1), 3.51 client and Server editions are all
available here! NT 3 and 4 are great OS's and are the root to Windows
2000 in which NT was eventually brought to consumers in Windows XP.
Windows NT was a major
re-write and the first true 32-bit OS
from Microsoft, competing against IBM's OS/2 Warp product!
Windows NT 4
Windows NT 4
Workstation, Server and Enterprise Editions! NT
3 and 4 are great OS's and are the root to Windows 2000 in which NT was
eventually brought to consumers in Windows XP.
Windows NT 4 came with
a desktop to match the new design of
Microsoft's consumer Operating System Windows 95.
DOS
IBM
DOS (PC DOS),
Digtial Research (DR) DOS, MS-DOS... DOS (Disk Operating System)
evolved from QDoS (Quick 'n' Dirty Operating System) which although was
an operating system in its own-right, was a platform for other OS's
such as Windows 3.1 and early versions of OS/2.
OS/2
IBM's renowned OS/2
Warp Operating System! Very rare Server
editions are also available for sale! IBM started the creation of OS/2
with Microsoft as a joint venture until the relationship soured with
Microsoft concentrating on Windows NT, the clear victor in the
IBM/Microsoft OS war.
Miscellaneous Software
