Modification & Extraction of Installation Setup Software Packages:

• ORCA Database Editor (in Windows® Server 2003 SP1 SDK)

  Due to limitations in the existing Windows Installer tools, you may need to edit the Windows Installer package (.msi) files directly. The Orca database editor is a table-editing tool available in the Windows Installer SDK and it can be used to edit your .msi files. The Orca editor edits and creates merge module (.msm) files , Internal Consistency Evaluator (.cub) files, and patch creation files (.pcp).
  
• Extract a wise installer setup by:
  Setup.exe /x (will bring up list asking which files to extract)
  Or
  Setup.exe /x c:\Downloads (will extract ALL to c:\downloads)
  
• Installshield Installer Setup command line switches:
  setup.exe /extract_all
  Will extract the installshield files without installing them
  
  setup.exe /r
  Record the installation to create an ISSanswer file which may be used in a silent installation command
  
  Setup.exe /s /f1”c:\temp\my-answer-file.iss”
  Run the setup silently using a previously created ISS answer file (with the /r parameter).
  
• MSI Setup File Extraction:
  msiexec /a c:\SETUP.msi /qb TARGETDIR=c:\EXTRACTLOCATION
  
• Other Setup Installers Extraction:
  Setup.exe /a
  setup.exe /extract
  setup.exe /x
